:55 in the morning president obama will enter the room along with first lady and their daughters, sasha and milia. the first lady's father gave that bible to his own mother in 1958 and the first lady's grandmother used it for many years and it's now been handed down to the next generation. so, it's very sentimental in their family. now, the chief justice will administer the 35-word oath. that's spelled out in article 2, section 1 of the constitution, as you know. >> hope he does a better job this time. >> oh, that man is never going to live it down. >> that was a mess up that will go down in history and the oath has to be taken before noon. as it's spelled out in the constitution, as well. now, you referred to the mess up last time. john roberts, the chief justice, made that mistake at the first inaugural. so, this, he had to do a redo. that redo last time was in the map room of the white house, not the blue room. this is the third time president obama will have taken the oath. the only president since fdr who has taken the oath four times. but fdr served four terms. >> he'll do it again tomorrow

it. i did it. >> so, leave it to the first daughters. the daughter sasha telling the president he didn't mess up. that's a reference to four years ago. when during that public ceremony they kind of stepped on some of the words, had to do a redo, that didn't happen this time around, soledad and john. >> what's the current status of this speech here. less than 24 hours ago to go until show-time? >> we're told the president is in the final moments of the wrapping the speech. he will be tweaking it until the time of delivery. this is something the president has been working on for many hours. he'll be doing it long-hand. but the president's chief speechwriter working with the president. trying to tweak it. will be doing it until he deliver it is tomorrow. >> have they given any more details? hopeful, i've heard they'll talk about unity. which is going out on a limb and giving details. are you hearing more about it? >> those familiar with the president, remarks tell us we'll be looking at some broad themes here. the president will talk about the fact that the political system rather do

's been writing this during the day in the oval office but also at night after sasha and malia go to bed as well as his wife goes to bed. he has time alone in the residence to work on it. some of the major themes and we just learned this from dan lothian who covers the white house. this is sort of the fact that the president is confronting the reality of a divided washington that he'll be acknowledging that there are some divisions but he'll talk about how there's responsibility to work on issues where there are common ground and, of course, this is considered certainly a speech that is somewhat hard to deliver not only because historically second inaugurals are not always very memorable but also because it's situated in a very weird place temp porely for president obama. we've just had the fiscal cliff battle. there's an upcoming one with the debt ceiling. ep has to acknowledge this not so pretty reality in the washington as he gives a speech that's supposed to be inspirational. >> the reality is the same congress he was working with on friday will be the same congress he's working with

sasha and malia rocked out with hundreds of kids from military families and washington-area public schools. the concert included katy perry, mindless behavior, usher and members of the cast of the fox series "glee." the concert continues a tradition started at the 2009 inauguration by honoring the nation's military families. president obama will have two swearing-ins: a public ceremony on monday and a private one tomorrow. we'll have more on the preparations for the big event coming up. >> there is a constant battle on who is right, who is wrong on the next edition of people behaving badly. about the debate as they see it. they are focusing in on the president's daughters, sasha and melee in the ad saying they have security at their school so why shouldn't the children of other americans? let me get your reaction to that. the white house obviously coming out against it. what is your thought there? >> i just saw a bit of that ad and i think it's terribly mistaken. the president's children are in a different category in one sense, but the real issue is whether all the children of this country will be safeguarded. i think that means some resources in the schools, but it means way beyond it. there is violence beyond the schools on street corners everywhere. what we are doing is saying what if it were a family member? that permanentization is very, very legitimate and makes newtown a seminole event. i think the ground is changing. >> the nra if the ground is changing, it may be dividing democrats and the nra and gun rights folks and gun control advocates even more. the nra said attacking firearms and ignoring children is not a solution to the crisis we face as a nation. onl

them candidly for long time, teasing each other, laughing, sasha, the younger daughter taking pictures of her own parents, and them sort of mugging for her. her sister mugsing for some friend who she saw nearby. mom helping the girls with coats and bottles of water and iphones. dad getting caught checking his blackberry, and at one point teasing his girls. we do not usually see them this way. we see them usually in the hyper restrained dignity that is demanded of formal occasions and heads of state. for whatever reason, and i really hope they did not mind us seeing them this way. for a long stretch of time we got to seem them while the parade was going by, just hanging out and having a great time. being able to see the overlap between our regular humanity and the ceremony and celebration of greatness, of great office, of great achievement is always a moving thing. we're reminded that -- reminded of that in this city of monuments, monuments to human achievement that are rendered, of course, super human in their scale. we're reminded of this on days that are full of pageantry and ceremon
